My name is Chris McAvoy, I live in Chicago with my wife, son and cat. This blog is mostly about programming, but occasionally strays into other topics. I’m particularly interested in open source programming languages, specifically Python. I’m a card carrying member of nearly every Chicago open source user group, and do my best to give back to the local geek community.

This weblog is part of the Lonely Lion Empire. “But Chris,” you ask, “what’s up with the Lonely bit? You seem like a nice happy guy. What gives?” Yeah, totally. I’m very happy. Lonely Lion comes out of my obessesion with my zodiac sign (Leo! Roar!), and my love of alliteration. When I first thought of the name in 1998, it seemed cool. Around 2003 or so, I tried to switch it up and become Wirelion dot com, but it never really took. So now I think of Lonely Lion as a sort of tattoo I got when I was 22, and can’t remove. Please only giggle behind my back.
